The Singapore trip continued to Bali. After spending 3 fun filled days in Singapore, we decided to cut ourselves out from the city life and stay by the shores. So we directly headed to Bali the fourth day. Like I have shared before the entire trip was booked through Make My Trip and they had arranged the local travel agent in Bali named Pacto Bali Ltd. We had a guide through out the trip and it was very well organised. The first stop in Bali was Kuta where we had spent 4 days in the hotel, Kuta Paradiso. Right behind the hotel is Kuta beach which is not just mesmerizing plus also has an amazing night life. I will take you all to Bali day wise.

Day 1
We reached around 3 in the afternoon dead tired so did not plan anything for the day. Had lunch at a nearby restaurant. Thankfully our hotel, Kuta Paradisa was right on the street full of innumerable eateries. We devoured on quite a lot of places there. For the rest of the day it was just sitting by the pool and sleeping early (I know it sounds like REALLY?) But yeah we wanted to feel fresh the next day on.

Day 2
After stomach full of breakfast at the hotel, we headed to watch the dance show at Tari Barong Batubulan & Keris Dance, Kuta Bali. I would recommend you guys to go watch it if only you love folk dances and acts. We did not really enjoyed but it was a good watch to know about their past and traditions. Our second halt for the day was Kintamani. Kintamani is a village on the western edge of the larger caldera wall of Gunung Batur in Bali, Indonesia. It is on the same north-south road as Penelokan and has been used as a stopping place to view the Gunung Batur region. It has a marvelous magnificence of volcanic Mount Batur famous for sunrise Volcano Trek to Mount Batur in Bali. Kintamani visit gets you a real taste of countryside. We also had a delicious lunch at one of the most popular Kintamani restaurant indulging in their local cuisine. Also had a visit to Goa Gajah, elephanta cave in Bali and had the second half of the day by ourselves. In Bali, when going to temple, you have tie a cloth around your waist as per their tradition. In the evening we went to Kuta beach to enjoy the night life which was really happening.

Day 3
Being hydrophobic we still went for Water Sports and indulged in some fun water activities like Flying fish, Banana Boat and Jet Ski. Although I was dead scared of drowning, yet I tried my best to enjoy the sports and surprisingly I did. So I am really confident now to take up other water sports as well. Also had spent some quality time at Padang Padang beach. The beach is quite small and as much as I have heard about the same, my experience with it was not as great. Having said that, I loved Kuta beach for it’s huge and beautiful and you really will enjoy surfing there. The later half of the day was spent in Uluwatu temple with sunset view. We chucked Tanah Lot temple which I would recommend you should not as it’s one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. So do include the same in your itinerary when planning one.

Day 4
An unexpected trip to Nusa Penida Island happened on my friend’s recommendation (the reason why we chucked Tanah lot temple). We started from Sanur, Bali to Nusa Penida Island via boat which took us about an hour to reach. The trip to Nusa Penida costed us around IDR 10,00,000 (Indonesian Rupiah) which is approximately Rs.5000 (Indian Rupee) per person. We booked the trip a night before and it included to and fro transport along with a guide who showed us all around and lunch. We started at8 in the morning and returned at 5 in the evening. The day was pleasantly spent. Nusa Penida is the largest and most exotic of the three Nusa Islands, thanks to its collection of unique Hindu temples and picturesque natural features of cliff formations and lagoons. It measures over 200 sq km, features a very limited number of hotels and tourist spots. Nevertheless, what it lacks in infrastructure, makes up for with its unspoiled natural beauty and rare cultural highlights. Beaches to explore in Nusa Penida:

Broken beach: That was once a large cave that collapsed to reveal the crashing blue waves from the Indian Ocean beneath. It’s mostly viewed from the distance but a few tourists go all the way down the uneven path and enjoy swimming. No wonder you will have cleanliest water to swim in and a lifetime experience.

Kelingling Beach: The most sought after view at Nusa Penida, pictures of which will be all across the internet. The view was speechless and it’s just all about the feel. I really fail to put my feelings to words. A must experience sight.

Crystal bay: Where divers enjoy one of Bali’s best dive sites, where pristine coral reefs and Mola-Mola fish (also known as oceanic sunfish), manta rays and, if you’re really lucky, even whale sharks are some of its seasonal sights. Besides diving in Nusa Penida, you can also find great visibility for snorkeling right near the shoreline.

Angel’s Billabong: Reached by a rugged path, this natural pool is picturesquely framed by rock cliffs & an arch. Some visitors brave the descent for a dip and some out-of-this-world holiday photos, but mind you that it’s treacherous, and it has claimed lives in the past.

We had lunch with a view at some local restaurant. For what I have witnessed, for vegetarians the options to eat are mostly, veg rice, veg noodles, spring rolls and samosa at majority of the places. Although you can find pizza and pasta on street side joints more.

Day 5
Early morning, yes you heard me right! I got up early morning to enjoy the sight at Kuta beach. We headed for a short walk and had some fun in water at the beach. Kuta beach is the BEST beach for surfing. As much as I was desperate to go for it seeing others enjoying, my hydrophobia did not let me. But if you do love surfing, this is the beach for you. Had our breakfast and directly en routed Ubud.

We stayed at Ubud Raya Resort which was the best decision we took. We booked for a private pool room which also had a nice seating area with kitchen. Ubud was planned for 2 days to just have a chill mode on and that’s all we did on the first day. The room and the resort overall was exceptionally beautiful and full of greenery.

Day 6
We planned a quick trip to Tegallalang Rice Terrace, hired a bike and went all the way in the scorching heat at 12 in the afternoon. Rice terrace also has multiple swings if you love to enjoy the feel. No doubt it was a beautiful sight to be at but I would recommend you guys to plan it in the evening when temperature goes down. The heat did not let us enjoy the trip honestly. The place is outlined by loads of local shops where you can indulge in some pocket friendly shopping and cafes. While shopping, do negotiate for all the stuff is highly priced and they tend to reduce the prices. Having said that, Bali is famous for wood carving and you will find beautiful bamboo bags all across. A must buy I would suggest. I got a few for myself and family. You will also get lovely hats, beachwear, footwear, etc.

We could not tolerate the heat and returned to the resort. Although we did go out again in the late evening to enjoy the narrow lanes and greenery of Ubud and had dinner at a beautiful open restaurant. You will find a queue of lovely restaurants adjacent to each other. Would recommend to experience the same instead of having food in the resort. Ubud is also famous for Monkey forest which we did not see but you can spend some time there as well.

Bidding Adieu to Ubud, Bali

See you soon Bali
